Two cover types on for
single release of Silver Zipper

Montreal Sur La Scene: Silver Zipper

"This writer, in years of music, rarely sees or hears a new group worthy of mention." So went the Montreal press, in 1979. Silver Zipper was formed from the ashes of Ihor Fu Fangio's Stanly Frank experience.

This time a small single was released locally, in Canada and distributed out of Edmonton, Canada, by Holgar Pertersen's independent label. The ep, had two covers, which iare shown on this page. They created quite a storm because of its sensual nature.

"Quite apart from the "press hype" record companies, PR agencies and rock management firms that unleash spin on an unsuspecting public, most new groups and artists are not worthy of the superlatives lavished upon them.

Lead guitarist, Ed Stevens by name, literally rips you off your seat and then gently feathers you back down again. Vocalist Al Glover has all the hurt and tear in his voice to dominate, cajole, kiss, caress and scream a song lyric. The mark of any distinctive stylist is their ability to take any song and make it theirs. SILVER ZIPPER accomplishes this. Jim Bale plays a rocking bass pattern that had me squirming on my barstool while rhythm guitarist Murray Webster alternated between playing funky electric piano and driving rhythm guitar.

I realized I had heard the new band of 1979, so if anyone asks you Jitney Jane’s pick as New Band Of The Year, tell them SILVER ZIPPER." - Jitney Jane Inc
